Artist Statement

At the heart of IOF stories are realms and powers of magic and mysticism as they intersect with blackness and queerness. As a kid, I found a book about becoming a wizard, and it filled my head with lots of ideas for colorful, bright, flashy spells for all sorts of purposes.

IOF stories are about exploring blackness, queerness, and magic in art, prose, music, and anything else. The stories give safe space to ask questions about the gods, and having conversations with friends and family about who we are and why we exist. They are a projection into different worlds and times, an opportunity to talk to strangers and explore life.
